On Beauty

Hi friends! I am doing something a little different today and sharing some of my favorite beauty products. I have actually never really been a huge makeup and beauty person, but over the past few years, I have discovered some brands and products that have changed my life. A few years ago, I signed up for a VIP select membership with Fab Fit Fun (HIGHLY RECOMMEND, + more on this later) where I have come across some of the most incredible products!

*Disclaimer: this blog post contains affiliate links, and I may receive commission should you choose to purchase any of the items I talk about below! 🙂

P.S. If you are interested in trying Fab Fit Fun for yourself, use this link here + code “GOTTAHAVEIT” for 20% off your first box! You won’t regret it!

P.P.S. You will also notice I use a LOT of SeneGence products (because they are AMAZE!) In order to purchase any of these products, you have to get in touch with a distributor. I have an INCREDIBLE good friend of mine who I purchase through on Instagram (@beautyonfl3ck). Feel free to reach out to me if you are interested, and I can get you in touch with one of these incredible ladies!

I am pretty simple when it comes to makeup. I am all about quality products that provide both convenience and a little bit of glam. I hope some of these recommendations help you find simplicity in your routine so as to embrace your natural beauty!

First Things First: My Makeup Routine!

Grown Alchemist Hydra-Repair Day Cream in Camellia, Geranium Blossom

To start, I use Grown Alchemist’s Hydra-Repair Day Cream all over my face as a primer for makeup application (s/o to my sister for this recommendation). I recently came across this product in my Fab Fit Fun box, but it can be purchased here. I really like the texture of this cream – it applies smoothly and helps balance the oils in my face so as to create a more matte finish. | Retail: $49

Once that dries, I go in with SeneGence’s Color Correcting Tinted Moisturizer (I use the shade “light”) and I use an angled face brush (more on these later). The CCTM is hands down one of my favorite products (as you can see from how little I have left). Before using this, I had never used any type of facial coverage or foundation, but I have come to LOVE this product so much. It gives off a natural glow, as it color corrects to your skin, eliminating any redness or discoloration in your face (perfect for hiding sunburned skin, too, which I have to do a lot in the Summer!) CCTM is a STAPLE! | Retail: $45

SeneGence also has “MakeSense Foundation” that comes in the same airless pump bottle (so as to allow for using EVERY last drop! No wasting here!), but I only have a small tester tube of it (I am shade Ivory). The foundation gives more coverage, yes, but I like the sheer and lightweight formula of the CCTM instead. I use the small tester tube of foundation more as a spot treatment, for those stubborn blemishes, or areas of my face that need more coverage (like under my eyes). I think you can purchase just the tester tube for $5!

The next product I use is another of my all time favorites: SeneGence’s Translucid Loose Powder (in Bronze Dust). I use this to contour my cheekbones, and then I bring it up to the sides of my forehead and down my nose just slightly. It gives an instant sun-kissed glow, making it look like I actually have a tan (LOL). This stuff lasts FOREVER. I have had it for about 4 months now, using it every single day, and it looks new! | Retail: $50

If I feel like using a finishing powder to mattify my face even further, I will go in with BareMinerals Mineral Veil. It is a beautiful and lightweight finishing powder that eliminates any leftover oiliness on the skin, and provides extra SPF coverage as an added plus! Cheapest place to purchase is on Amazon, found here. | Retail: $17

Next, I use Tarte’s Shape Tape Eye Primer all over my eyelids to create a blank canvas for eyeshadow! This is my favorite eye primer I have ever used, it is a true nude, so blends well and leaves a really nice matte finish. | Retail: $21

Next, my favorite part: Eye Shadow! I have recently become obsessed with ShadowSense (another SeneGence product). These are cream to powder shadows, so they come in really nice tubes that allow for easy and convenient application. These will also last you forever because a little product goes a LONG way. I usually use them in threes (one for base, one for crease, and one to tie it all together into a smokey eye).

This is my current collection (the one missing a sticker is “Mulberry”). To start, I would recommend Sandstone Pearl Shimmer and/or Moca Java Shimmer. They are must have staples! These shadows truly are so versatile and fun to play around with! | Retail: $22

I will also sometimes use the 25B Morphe Bronzed Mocha Eyeshadow Palette. I really like how pigmented these colors are and how easy they are to blend. I will usually use this for specific looks, or to create colors I don’t have with ShadowSense. Also a huge plus that it is cheap! I purchased mine from ULTA.| Retail: $19

I have experimented with a number of different makeup brush brands, and have finally found a few I highly recommend. In my Fall Fab Fit Fun box, I got the Crown Pro Limited Edition Syntho Brush Set (hellooooo Rose Gold Details!) and I am LOVING it. They are SO soft, and transfer product so well. Also easy to clean which is a plus. | Retail: $75

I mixed this brush set with one I found off Amazon, a brand called “BS-MALL,” you can purchase it here. It is unbelievably affordable and comes with a FULL set (face, eye, and brow brushes included). I switch out which ones I use frequently, just depending on the type of eye/face look I am going for. | Retail: $11

Lastly, I also use 2 brushes from IT Cosmetics. The Airbrush Angled Shadow Crease Brush #117 (application with this is AMAZE, seriously) and just one of their basic eyebrow brushes that has an attached eyelash separator (perfect for when your lashes clump together!) I purchased both from ULTA | Retail: $13 each

I am a sucker for a good winged eyeliner look. I honestly do it every single day, so you can imagine how many different eyeliners I have tried. Tarte’s Sex Kitten liquid eyeliner is HANDS DOWN the BEST I have ever used. It lasts a good amount of time, and the shape of the pen is the best for creating the most precise lines. All time favorite product, and it can be purchased at ULTA. | Retail: $20

Last but not least: Mascara. IT Cosmetic’s Superhero Mascara is the best out there. For a while, I tried to find a dupe, because I hate spending a lot of money on mascara, but nothing out there compares. So if you are contemplating the splurge, DO IT. It really is worth every penny. You can get it on amazon for a good price, here. But right now, QVC is running a deal where you can get 2 for almost the price of one. So I would recommend checking it out there first! | Retail: $23

Next Up: My Nightly Routine!

Now for the sad part: taking it all off! I am not really familiar with different makeup removal processes, I just use whatever is cheapest. This Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing Water is affordable and does not sting my eyes, so its a winner! I purchase mine off Amazon, you can get it here. It takes off everything from my CCTM and ShadowSenses, to my eyeliner and Mascara. I usually pour it onto a Huggies Baby Wipe (totally not kidding, this is a habit I got from my mother), and then use that to rub my makeup off! Works like a charm! | Retail: $7

To remove my LipSense, though, I use the SeneGence’s “Oops! Remover” which can be purchased from a distributor for $10. I have heard a Neutrogena Bar works just as well, but I guess it is just personal preference.

After taking all of my makeup off, I use a small dab of Farmacy’s “Dew It All” cream under my eyes and over my eyelids. I got this in my Fab Fit Fun Box also, but it can be purchased on Amazon, here. This stuff is amazing. It soothes my eyes after makeup removal, and helps keep the skin around my eyes soft and wrinkle free! | Retail: $38

Usually before bed, I will treat the rest of my skin with some kind of oil or lotion. Lately, I have been really liking the “Whish Body Oil,” another product from one of my Fab Fit Fun boxes. This oil is actually sold out everywhere I looked, but Amazon has a really nice body butter from the same collection that you can purchase here. | Retail: $18

I also recently came across Bio-Oil’s Multiuse Skincare Oil which works to hide stretch marks. I truly believe every woman is beautiful and there is NO need to hide these natural beauty marks, but if you are like me and suffer from bright purple stretch marks on super white skin, its nice to have something that kind of tones it down a little. This stuff is easy to apply, has a pleasant smell, and it works wonders. Consistency is key though, you have to apply every day for a few weeks to see a difference. You can purchase it from Amazon here. | Retail: $15

Hair & Misc. Products!

Vanity_Blog-4

I recently made the switch to an all-natural & organic deodorant because I FINALLY learned the danger of using antiperspirants like Dove & Secret which I had used my entire life (If you have no idea what I am talking about, google it.) Let me tell you, it was rough finding an all-natural one that actually works. After testing out a few different brands, I came across Primally Pure and it is absolutely INCREDIBLE. This stuff lasts ALL day (I literally only re-apply if I worked out during the day), and all of their scents are subtle yet fresh. At the end of the day, I can still smell the fresh scent #RealTalk; so this stuff is the real deal. It is on the pricier side, but one stick will last you up to 6 months. You can purchase it on their website, here. (Be sure to use Promo Code “BGAGE10” for 10% off!) | Retail: $16

Next, I thought I would share just one of my favorite perfume’s which comes from the SeneGence collection: “Abundance Fresh Parfum.” I am obsessed with the way this smells, so it has quickly become one of my go-tos. | Retail: $50

Vanity_Blog-26

Who doesn’t love Living Proof? This stuff is AMAZING. I was first introduced to it through Fab Fit Fun, but I have become a loyal customer now. This stuff works wonders. I use the “Restore Perfecting Spray” after washing my hair. It detangles my hair to allow for easier brushing when wet, and leaves it feeling incredibly soft and shiny once dry. It also smells SO GOOD (I would us it purely for the smell if anything else). You can purchase it on Amazon, here. |Retail: $27

I am also a huge fan of Living Proof’s “Perfect Hair Day” Dry Shampoo. This stuff smells good, blends into my hair really well, and eliminates any grease, allowing for a few days in between washes. I get mine from ULTA. | Retail: $23

These are a few other hair products I have come across (all 4 of which I got in a previous Fab Fit Fun box, do you sense a theme here?). I love Briogeo’s hair products! I use the Rosarco Milk Leave-In Conditioning Spray after washing my hair when I want a little bit more conditioning. You can purchase it on Amazon, here. | Retail: $18

I also use their Blow Dry protective cream in my hair if I plan to Blow Dry my hair. It protects against the harsh heat to prevent split ends and heat damage. These products also smell SO GOOD, as an added plus. You can also purchase this on Amazon, here. | Retail: $24

On dry hair, I use Orlando Pita Play’s Atmos-Shield Hair Protectant Treatment Spray before using any heat tools on my hair (flat-iron, curling iron, etc.). This stuff de-frizzes my hair, making it easier to curl & straighten and it also smells amazing. You can purchase it at ULTA. | Retail: $9

I will also sometimes pump a VERY small amount of Marrakesh Argan Oil to the tips of my fingers and run it through my hair before styling. This gives my dry hair an added shine and an instant softer texture. You can purchase it from Amazon, here. | Retail: $20

Lastly, I thought it would be fun to share two more of my favorite beauty products. As you all know, I have VERY pale white skin that refuses to tan, no matter how hard I try. So alas, I have resorted to finding a great self-tanner. I tried a few different ones out there and St. Tropez is the BEST. This stuff looks so natural on, and is easy to apply. I put it on at night before bed, sleep with it on (does not transfer to/stain sheets!) and then shower quickly in the morning. It lasts me about a week or two (less if I shave more often) and it fades, rather than peels off, so the whole process feels more natural! Make sure you also purchase a tanning mitt! It makes for an easier and more streak-free application. You can purchase it off Amazon, here. | Retail: $30

To end my recommendations, I wanted to share one of the best things I have ever come across: the Venus IPL Hair Removal System. This is definitely an investment, but it is 100% worth it. I have very thick black hair, and this stuff REALLY works! It is a tedious process that requires a lot of patience, but it is amazing. I used it on my legs and followed the instructions exactly (once a week, for 12 weeks, and then once a month or so) and I saw a huge difference! I wouldn’t say it permanently rids of hair, but it definitely slows growth down a TON and thins it out. If I am consistent, I can go almost a week without seeing any hair growth. This saves so much time and energy in the Summer time. You can purchase it on Amazon, here. | Retail: $300
